The effect is created by suspending pearlescent metallic pigment in a clear 100%-solids epoxy and hand-troweling it while the resin is still wet. As the epoxy flows and the applicator works the pigment, the metallic particles separate and recombine — creating depth, lensing, and marble-like veining that cannot be reproduced. The trowel direction, the pigment density, the blend of two or three pigment colours, and the timing of the work all change the result, which is why a metallic floor is quoted as a finish, not a colour.

Because the visual is delicate, the protection has to be industrial. The metallic pigment layer is fully encapsulated: a self-levelling clear epoxy is poured over the design to lock it, and a UV-stable polyaspartic top coat seals the surface. That top coat is the same hot-tire-resistant, chemical-resistant coating used on FraserPlus garage and commercial floors — which is why metallic epoxy is not a basement-only finish. It is installed in luxury vehicle garages, car-collector spaces, and showrooms, where the floor sees tire traffic, oil, and road salt, and the pigment design underneath is untouched because nothing actually contacts it.
